The Anticipated Arrival

Juniper Rose was born Friday, December 4, 2009, twenty-one minutes after midnight. We arrived at the hospital at 12:05 am and in 16 minutes, 8 lbs. 8 oz Juniper Rose, came into this world a healthy and beautiful baby girl!

June Bug shares the same birthday as her great-grandma Dimie, which is also just two days shy of her grandma Popo's b-day! We love our sagittarians!!!

As some of you know, the last four months of pregnancy were spent horizontal on my living room couch (fun), and on a restricted gestation diabetes diet (yeah) , but it has all paid off. Big ups and mad props to Yvonne Novak (Doula with Love), Mama & Papa Bear, Tia Christine, Nai Nai, Ava, Mia, super nannies Shari and Estella, and all the love and support from family and friends for giving us inspiration and making it all special!!!

Chris, Luna, and I can't wait for you to all meet Baby Juniper one day! In the meantime, we wish you all happy holidays from the Lang Coyle Clan!

Ouchie

One Saturday evening, Luna slipped off her slide and landed in the grass on top of her crumpled arm. We were devastated. We tried to remain calm, but there was a lump in our throats as we raced to the ER. After several hours of waiting, prodding, examining, she came back home with a nice little splint and a bottle of infant codeine. Not bad, eh?

But, that wasn't the final say. When the pediatrician examined her arm the following Monday, his furrowed bushy eyebrows told us it was more serious than a bad sprain. He advised us to go to the orthopedic surgeon's office immediately, warning us that Luna's arm possibly needed pins!

Fortunately, he was just bracing us for the worse. The surgeon confirmed it was definitely broken but would only need a cast. Phew! The orthopedic team swiftly applied a beautiful "poople" colored waterproof cast (Luna requested the color herself.)

After the cast hardened, she was the new and improved Luna. Immediately, her spirits were lifted and she began to adjust to her new accessory. For three solid weeks she mastered the art of clonking up stairs, pulling up on furniture, pounding on table tops like a hungry pirate.

Now that the cast has come and gone, Luna is as daring as ever, always on the brink of a hairy scenario, but fortunately well, happy, and healthy. (We forgot to mention Luna burned her foot on the floor heater the very same day the cast came off, but that we save for another post)
